Planet Theta is designed to be a competitor to VRChat but more focused on the dating experience and creating meaningful connections among the user base.
For Planet Theta I was tasked with voice chat, level optimization, interaction, and multiplayer replication.
The voice chat feature was tricky, we were utilizing a channel-based plugin but I had to create a system to sort and assign players to specific channels on a per-date basis
Level optimization took a large chunk of project time. We were given levels from an outside designer that had to be rebuilt because they were never intended for Meta Quest. So a large portion of materials and assets had to be redone to be mobile-compatible.
There was a lot of player-to-player and player-to-world interaction. Everything from simple throwable objects to roses that counted as gifts for each player.
I created the system Planet Theta used to replicate the player tablet and make it visible to other players; so you can see if someone is in the menu.
